C V Raman International Fellowships College Merit Scholarship

This College Merit Scholarship prestigious award is intended to further strengthen the connection between the Indian and African nations with the scientific and technological cooperation. This award is a follow-up of the new Science & Technology Initiative for African countries at the highest level on the summit of the India-Africa Forum in April 2008 announced.

Target
The College Merit Scholarship goal of the fellowship of CV Raman International is to provide opportunities for African researchers conduct, under the leadership of their hosts in India, joint research with leading research groups in universities and other institutions in the various fields of Indian science and technology.

Types and number of fellowships offered
Each African country will have 8 slots of fellowship totaling approximately 416 fellowships under this programme.
(a) Post Doctoral Fellowship – Duration 6 months. Maximum 2 fellowships of 6 months duration each or one fellowship thereof subject to total 12 man-months.
(b) Visiting fellowship – Duration 3 months. Maximum 3 fellowships
(c) Senior Fellowship – Duration 1 month. Maximum 3 fellowships

College Merit Scholarship Federation of Indian Chamber of Commerce & Industry (FICCI) is the Coordinating Partner for C V Raman International Fellowship. FICCI, on behalf of Department of Science & Technology, invites applications from African researchers for the award of C V Raman International Fellowship to conduct research in Indian research laboratories/institutes in chosen areas of Science & Technology.

Scholarship Description:The French government through the French Embassy in Jakarta has provided scholarships to citizens of Indonesia for more than 30 years. In order to develop human resources in Indonesia, the French Embassy will provide scholarships for 2010. The scholarships are given to civil servants, lecturers, students (especially those involved in the cooperation program between France and Indonesia) to follow the 2 types of educational programs:

• Masters (Maximum duration of two years)
• Doctorate (full scholarship – 18 months)

‘Islam and Law in Southeast Asia’ Fieldwork Scholarships of up to A$2,000 are available for Masters or PhD candidates enrolled at the University of Melbourne. The scholarships must be used to support fieldwork in Southeast Asia on Islam-related topics that match the themes of Professor Tim Lindsey’s ARC Federation Fellowship. Availability:

This scholarship is offered annually to 5 people. Open for applications from September 1, 2010 until September 24, 2010.

Payment Information:

The value of this scholarship is AUD2000 (maximum per award). This award is to be used for accommodation, research, living expenses and travel. This scholarship is paid as a one off.

Research Information:

This scholarship is for one of the following fields of research: Cultural studies, Justice and legal studies, Law, Other law, justice and law enforcement or Religion and religious traditions. It is required that your study starts no earlier than October 1, 2010 and no later than July 31, 2011.

Eligibility:

This scholarship is for study in Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, East Timor, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore or Vietnam for those who have achieved Masters or equivalent. You must have studied at or be currently studying at The University of Melbourne.

Are you in the process of deciding where to go to school? The cost of tuition is often the factor that determines where a student will go to school. The difference in tuition typically depends on what type of school you choose to attend. If your major is offered by most schools, keep an open mind when considering your options. The bottom line: don't rule out a cheaper option because it is so. Cheaper can mean "worse," but is doesn't have to.

* Community Colleges
The most fiscally conservative approach to attending school is by a long shot, the community college route. Most only offer 2-year degrees; however, they are a great place to complete your general education requirements. In my own experience, I have found that general 100-level courses are just about the same regardless of where you attend. If finances are a major concern, consider the community college option.
* State Universities
A state university may not be your first choice, but they offer students an opportunity to obtain a prorated first-class education, and a diploma upon completion. State schools are typically less expensive than a private college, but it is significantly harder to receive a scholarship for a state school as most of the scholarships available only apply to students with financial need.
* Private Colleges
Private institutions almost always cost more, but for students who excel in academics or athletics they offer impressive scholarship incentives. Half or full tuition scholarships are not unusual; students who attend these universities typically receive an offer that they simply cannot refuse.

It's decided. You are going to college, come heck or high water. But who's paying for it? Many students assume that their parents are willing to foot the bill for their tuition and are shocked and appalled when they find out that their sneaky folks have plans of their own.
